Chameleon Design team raising a glass to 30 years

Raising Our Glass to 30 Years

We’re breaking out the bubbly because team Chameleon is celebrating the firm’s 30-year anniversary! We’ve been on cloud nine this year, as it was on April 2, 1992, that our fearless Founder, Eve Lowey, opened Chameleon Design’s doors with the goal to create an exceptional design firm that catered to homebuilders and residential developers. Since then, it has been our privilege to serve hundreds of clients to help them create bespoke model homes, sales offices, and amenities across the country.

“Thirty years, there’s so much to be thankful for,” says Eve. “Our fantastic clients and amazing team are the best in the business. Chameleon Design wouldn’t be where it is today without them!”

From the beginning, our leadership team sought to create a safe and welcoming culture for experienced and emerging designers, inviting unique perspectives and creativity. We’re constantly inspired by our clients and the beauty of the world around us. It’s from this wellspring that our team raises the bar higher and higher each day and why we’ve been recognized with more than 170 prestigious industry awards and glowing client accolades.

“The Chameleon team is second to none and I could not imagine working with anyone else for our design needs. Their eye for design speaks for itself, and the level of service they provide is outstanding. They push us to take risks, are flexible when we throw them curveballs, and are never satisfied with good-enough. They are one of the most important pieces of the Woodbridge Pacific team and it is a privilege to work with them.”

Bradley Davis,
Marketing Director
Woodbridge Pacific Group

“I’ve worked with the Chameleon team for many, many years and considered them a part of our team. They have an eye for detail, are able to go with the latest trends and have good knowledge of attainable finishes…They really are a force and [I] was grateful to work with them over the years as well as call them my friends”

Tracey Long,
Marketing Manager
Taylor Morrison

“Congratulations on 30 years, Chameleon! We truly value our sales office and model collaborations over the years and thank you for your passion, innovative design and continued friendship. Cheers to your continued success and wonderful designs!”

Caitlyn Lai-Valenti,

The perfect southern California experience awaits at Townes at Magnolia, a collection of 3-story contemporary townhomes in Anaheim, California. With bountiful amenities such as fire pit gathering areas, BBQ grills, recreation areas and more, residents can always make the most of the blissful California sunshine. In a central location near Disneyland and Angel Stadium, and with the beach just a short drive away, adventure and fun are a weekend staple for residents, both in and out of this Melia Homes community.

Despite the OC locale and enticing proximity to the beach cities, buyers desiring their own coastal haven can find it in Townes at Magnolia Plan 2. This 3-bedroom model home offers much in soothing chic aesthetic and unique accents. Upon walking into the home, potential buyers will be delighted to find a memorable painted barn door leading into the guest bedroom. Serene blue paneling and beach-themed artwork make this space a calming paradise. The serenity continues throughout the home on the upper levels, with azure blues and beiges throughout the living areas and trendy furnishings with plenty of natural materials. Each room has something to catch the eye, whether it’s a paneled accent wall, blue, textural tiling, or a pop of colorful paint. It’s Easy Being Green at Dover at Compass Bay’s Plan 1

If a breath of fresh air came with a design style and color palette, the Plan 1 model home at Dover at Compass Bay by Trumark Homes would be it. This dreamy home’s Newark, CA, locale is perched along the San Francisco Bay with nearby access to the area’s waterfront and wildlife refuge. Bright and breezy are hallmarks of our approach to this four-bedroom home that appeals to growing families. Our infusion of soothing neutrals with youthful bursts of lime and lemon refresh and uplift each room. Here, everyone in the family has their own space to work and relax — the well-appointed home office features plenty of built-ins and natural light, and a playful kids’ loft is the perfect spot to do homework or watch TV. We especially love how the various shades of green create a sense of energy and vitality. Even the laundry room got a colorful wall treatment because a home’s corners and alcoves should look and feel special!

The Nationals Recognizes Team Chameleon With 5 Silver Awards

There’s nothing like starting the new year riding a wave of celebration! Team Chameleon has had the privilege of completing several groundbreaking projects the past year with our incredible clients. It’s in this spirit of gratitude that we are so happy to announce that five of our projects are Silver Award winners at this year’s The Nationals awards. With recognition in three different categories, we are accepting these honors alongside our three wonderful builder clients- Brookfield Residential, Toll Brothers, and Woodbridge Pacific Group. Silver Awards represent top vote recipients in each category and are finalists for the coveted Gold Award.

The Nationals is an annual competition that’s hosted by the National Sales and Marketing Council of the National Association of Home Builders. It’s one of the most prestigious awards programs in the industry, honoring North America’s top talent in 65 categories across various disciplines in community and home design, marketing, and sales. A panel of judges selected finalists from entries across the country, and we are thrilled to be recognized among our peers.

To get ourselves amped for the awards season, we’re taking a walk down memory lane to revisit these Silver Award-honored projects.

High Style in the Low Desert — Topaz Plan One

Nestled in the Coachella Valley and surrounded by the Santa Rosa Mountains, La Quinta is an idyllic desert playground for the jet set, snowbirds and festival revelers alike. It was with these buyers in mind that we approached the interiors of Topaz Plan One at Signature PGA West by Woodbridge Pacific Group in La Quinta. The scheme is sophisticated yet youthful with natural touches that connect to the warm hues of the surrounding terrain. Crisp white walls accentuate the vivid desert sunlight, while cool blues are reminiscent of the sparkling pool and sky. Bursts of orange offer up a playful contrast that’s full of energy. Blonde and honey-toned wood furnishings are used throughout the home and help ground the white’s ethereal feel. We layered color and pattern in unexpected ways in this model home for a vibe that’s spirited and joyful while undeniably chic. The resulting ethos is one of pleasurable contrasts that dials into the many reasons people seek to call La Quinta home — a casually elegant lifestyle that embraces leisure, adventure, and play.

living room at Rancho Palma Plan 6 in San Bernardino, California

Subtle Contrasts Reign Supreme at Rancho Palma’s Plan 6

Sweeping panoramic vistas uplift and enchant at Rancho Palma by Trumark Homes, a gated community nestled in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains in the Inland Empire, California. The muted yet refined colors of the surrounding terrain inspire the community’s Plan 6 model home, reflecting the spirit of outdoor adventure that awaits along jagged peaks and undulating hills only a short drive away. The home’s interior is a case study in subtle contrasts that creates a restful retreat with connections to the outside world. Our team was deliberate in our curated selection of natural materials and furnishings, like wood-encased mirrors, a jute rug, wood tables, and woven window shades. The living room looks and feels like a big hug with its textural elements infusing a cozy vibe that’s still refreshingly upscale. Here, contrasts are nuanced, like the interplay of sharp angles and rounded features. Tawny brown hues commingle with slate and onyx materials, offering a pleasing balance of warm and cool tones. Touches of burnt orange, a color reminiscent of late summer sunsets, suffuse throughout the bedrooms and loft. The effect is a lifestyle that’s sophisticated yet approachable and wholly inviting — a blend of cozy and modern for the at-home age where so many of us continue spending a lot of time in our living rooms, kitchens, and home offices.

Community Center at Jordan Downs in Watts, California

Redevelopment for Good — Jordan Downs Community Center

A distressed 1950s-era housing development is getting its much-deserved second act as a fully revitalized mixed-income community. Jordan Downs is a joint venture master-planned redevelopment by Bridge Housing and The Michaels Organization, located in Watts, California. We couldn’t be happier to partner with both incredible teams to help realize the vision of the community that preserves its historical roots while enhancing residents’ quality of life. Our team’s goal was to breathe new life into the master plan’s shared amenities through uniquely designed spaces that inspire connection and community, for everyone of all ages. A bright and colorful palette uplifts and inspires, and various seating arrangements offer a comfortable place for after-school activities, Girl Scout meetings, and other neighborhood events. Phase 1 includes one of several of the development’s community centers that aim to be sustainable and more energy-efficient. Phase 2 construction is currently underway and will open in December 2021. We are so thrilled to be working on this next chapter of the development which will include even larger community spaces to further provide residents with support, stability, and a place for recreation.
